Today in drawing our class learned how to show volume and space using perspective. We focused on one point perspective and how to find the focus point. Our assignment was to sit anywhere on the first floor
of the Fine Arts building and draw a hallway. After everybody began drawing it was evident that all parallel lines shared the same vanishing point. Once we found the focus point we were able to understand where the eye level of the paper was as well. Using the rule of thumb and our measuring sticks we were able to get realistic measurements of the objects and how they should be placed on paper. It also helped with the proportions of objects such as pictures, lockers, or anything in the long hallways. The lesson on one point perspective
was a great way to learn about spatial relationships and to prepare us for two point perspective drawings.
